“World Autism Awareness Day” Event Held at the Vocational School of Health Services

The Vocational School of Health Services hosted a meaningful awareness project. First- and second-year students from the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Program, within the Department of Therapy and Rehabilitation, organized a comprehensive event as part of “World Autism Awareness Day” on April 2.

Wide Participation and Engaging Activities

The event took place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, between 12:30 and 14:00 on the ground floor of the school. It attracted significant interest from academic staff, students, and administrative personnel. Aimed at increasing social awareness toward individuals with autism spectrum disorder, the event encouraged active participation from attendees.

Highlights of the Event

  • Handprint Painting: Participants painted their hands and left prints on prepared boards, conveying the message “We stand with awareness.”
  • Information Tree: An “information tree” was created to present accurate information about autism and to correct common misconceptions, helping to inform visitors.
  • Awareness Board: Visuals and informative notes prepared by students were exhibited at the entrance of the school.

“Our Goal is to Raise Social Awareness”

Lecturer Ahmet Özkan, who coordinated the event, stated that the program was successfully completed. He emphasized that such activities contribute to students’ professional development and aim to foster greater awareness of autism across all segments of society.

The event, carried out with the dedicated efforts of the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Program students, concluded with group commemorative photographs.
